How WedGenie Top-Rated vendors are chosen
One published rule, applied the same way on every page. The 2027 edition names 740 winners across 246 city directories.
The rule
Who is eligible
Any vendor listed in a WedGenie city directory that has a public Google rating and at least 50 Google reviews. A perfect score from a handful of reviews does not qualify.
How winners are ranked
By Google rating first. Ties are broken by the number of reviews, because 4.9 across a thousand couples says more than 4.9 across sixty.
How many win
About the top third of a page. A directory page that lists 8 to 19 vendors has 3 winners, a page with 20 to 29 has 5, and a page with 30 or more has 10. Pages with fewer than 8 vendors have no award, since a ranking of five is not a ranking.
When it is decided
Once per edition. The 2027 list was compiled on September 18, 2026 and is frozen: a rating that moves next month does not take a ribbon away or hand one out. The next edition is compiled from scratch.
What the ribbon is not
- It is not for sale. There is no paid tier, sponsored slot or application fee, and there never has been.
- It is not conditional. A winner keeps the ribbon whether or not they display the badge, link to us, claim their page or ever reply to an email.
- It is not our own review. WedGenie has not visited these businesses. The ranking is arithmetic on public Google reviews, and each listing links to its sources.
- It is not a promise about your date. Availability, pricing and fit are yours to confirm with the vendor.
A worked example: Tampa wedding venues
The Tampa venues page listed 33 venues when the edition was compiled, so it has 10 winners. Ratings and review counts are the figures Google showed on September 18, 2026.
